What napnap is

napnap is an application for recording a baby's sleep, feeds, food and measurements, and for working out what time the next nap is due from what you record.

It is free, it has no advertising and it sells data to nobody. It is maintained by Daniel Cimorra, and you can write to hola@napnap.es about anything on this page.

This is not medical advice

napnap does sums with the hours you record. It is not a medical device, it diagnoses nothing and it does not replace your doctor, your midwife or your health visitor.

The forecasts are exactly that: forecasts. The growth curves are the WHO tables and the centile is a number, not a mark.

If something worries you, speak to your doctor. If it is urgent —difficulty breathing, choking, a seizure, a fever in a baby under three months, or simply not responding the way they always do— call the emergency services on 112. The application will tell you the same if you try to ask about it on the forum, and it will not publish the message.

Your account

You get in with a link we send to your inbox; there is no password. Anybody with access to your email can get into your account, so look after it the way you look after the rest.

To use napnap you have to be an adult and be the mother, father or guardian of the baby whose records you are keeping, or have their permission. There are no accounts for minors.

You can invite another person into your home —the other mother, the other father, whoever looks after them— and they will see and be able to correct exactly what you do. Removing somebody from the home takes their access away that moment.

You can close your account whenever you like. Before you do, take your data with you: it is in Settings, «Your data».

What you record stays yours

What you write in napnap is yours. We keep it so that we can show it back to you and do the sums we show you, and for nothing else.

You can download all of it whenever you like, in a format another application can read, and you can delete it.

Questions between homes

napnap has a place where mothers and fathers ask each other things. By writing there you accept a few short rules:

Emergencies are not discussed: urgent things get phoned, not asked. No links to outside sites except the ones on the list (professional bodies and public institutions). No advertising. No personal details of anybody, yours or anyone else's — no names, no phone numbers, no addresses. And answer the way you would want to be answered at four in the morning.

Your name does not appear: a handle you choose is used instead. What does travel with your question, if you let it, is your baby's age in weeks and their rhythm — how many naps, how long they stay awake. You see all of it before posting and you can take it off with one tap.

There is a limit on questions and answers per day, and writing takes a few days of using the application. It is not distrust: it is what keeps out whoever comes here to sell something.

What can be hidden and what can be published

A message may be hidden if several people report it or if a rule flags it, and a person reviews it. If you repeatedly write things that break these rules, we may close your account; we will tell you, and you will be able to take your data with you.

A solved question may be published outside the application, on a page anybody can read. That only happens if three things are true: that you authorise it when closing the thread, that whoever wrote the answer that helped you has also authorised it, and that a person has read it first. Your baby's name is never published, nor their date of birth, nor the exact day: only the handle, the age in weeks and the month.

You can withdraw that permission whenever you like, from the thread itself. The page stops being visible at that moment.

What we cannot promise you

napnap is maintained by one person. It can fail, it can be down for a while and it can change. We take copies of the database, but the only copy you control is the one you download.

Except where the law does not allow it to be excluded, we are not answerable for decisions taken on the basis of what the application says: the hours are a calculation and the parenting is yours.

If napnap ever shuts down, notice will be given far enough in advance for you to download everything of yours.

Changes, law and complaints

If these terms change, notice is given inside the application and the date on this page changes with them. Changes are not applied backwards to what you have already posted.

Spanish law applies. If something does not add up, write to hola@napnap.es first: almost everything gets sorted out by answering an email. If there is still a disagreement, you can go to the courts where you live.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no paid tier, no advertising and no data being sold. If that ever changed, notice would be given first and it would never affect what you have already recorded.

Can you read what I record about my baby?

The sleep, the feeds, the measurements and the notes of your home are shown to nobody. The only thing that leaves your home is what you write in the questions between homes, and aggregate sums from which nobody can be identified.

What happens if I delete my account after answering somebody?

What you recorded about your baby is deleted. Answers that are published outside the application stay, but without your handle: they appear as «somebody». Deleting them would leave holes in conversations other people are reading.
